What is on the ballot?

Agua Fria Union High School District serves over 9,200 students in the communities of Avondale, Buckeye, Goodyear, and Litchfield Park with its five high schools: Agua Fria, Canyon View, Desert Edge, Millennium, and Verrado.

Avondale Elementary School District (AESD) is an award-winning district that serves nearly 6,000 students in preschool through eighth grades in Avondale and Goodyear.  AESD has nine schools including a STEM Academy, an Accelerated Academy, a dual language immersion program, a school with an arts focus, and neighborhood schools.  The district was voted as the Best District in the southwest valley by Best of the Best in 2022, Best of the West in 2023, Best of the Desert in 2023, and ranked among the best schools in the country by US News and World Report.

 

Agua Fria Bond

  • $138 million bond proposal.
  • Estimated average tax for the total proposed bond is $14.84 monthly per average household.
  • Replacement or repairs to aging systems like air conditioning, roofs and parking lots.
  • Technology infrastructure enhancements .
  • Student transportation (new buses).
  • Classroom furniture and equipment.

Avondale M&O Budget Override

  • Continuation of existing M&O Budget Override approved by voters in 2020.
  • No increase in tax rate.
  • Maintain and/or reduce current class size.
  • Maintain full-day kindergarten.
  • Retain and attract the highest qualified educators.
  • Ensure continuation of special area classes such as art, music, band, PE and technology.
  • Maintain student transportation services at the current standards.
  • Sustain funding for special needs students.
  • Continued funding for school nurses.
